The International Design Awards (IDA) was launched by the Farmani Group in 2007
to recognize, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries and to uncover emerging talent in the design industries. The Awards has now become one of the leading design awards globally attracting thousands of entries from around the world.
“In the 2021 edition of the IDA we saw a large number of designers reflecting on the current state of the world including the the pandemic, social distancing, sustainability, climate change and circular economies were clearly evident. The IDA has always been about seeking out truly visionary designers showcasing creativity and innovation and the jury had an enormous task in selecting winners from some truly outstanding design submissions. ”
commented Jill Grinda, VP Marketing and Business Development for the IDA.
IDA Jury member Sheng-Hung Lee, Designer and Engineer at MIT & IDSA Boston Vice Chair noted that “Designers have more social responsibility than ever since we need to tackle large complex systemic challenges adapting the state-of-arts technologies. Hence, International Design Awards (IDA) provides a great open platform that is beyond design competitions or awards to empower designers to explore, act, and share their social innovative projects.”
On judging the 2021 entries, IDA Jury member Mark Liu, MD of architecture and urban design rm JERDE expressed that ” Although the Covid Pandemic has been on everyone’s foreground, architecture or design should not be a reactive gesture. Those responsible for architecture or design should be constantly pondering on how to improve one’s lifestyle needs while balancing the impact we leave to the environment. Thus, less is more. Less impact, more time left to enjoy this planet.”
The Farmani Group, established in 1985, is the organizer of International Design Awards (IDA), Architecture MasterPrize (AMP), European Product Design Awards (EPDA), Prix de la Photographie in Paris (PX3), London International Creative Awards (LICC), International Photography Awards (IPA) and the Annual Lucie Awards for Photography, which has emerged as one of the world’s most prestigious photography awards.
